My wife and I were privileged to stay at Lalashe Maasai Mara during our honeymoon safari in Kenya. The camp had just opened and I can say without fear of overstatement that it was amazing!
We were collected from the airstrip with a warm welcome and cool drinks by our guide Yuda, who treated us to a game drive on the way to Lalashe where we encountered Hippo, Elephant, Zebra, Wildebeast, Antelope and Warthog. This was just the start of an amazing visit. On arrival at Lalashe it got even better, we were met by the team with refreshments and a familiarisation tour and then shown to our tent. I say tent, but do not think you will have to rough it. The “tent” is a large multi-roomed indoor and outdoor facility with a 4 poster bed, fridge with drinks, indoor and outdoor shower rooms, sitting room and private pool that would put a five star city hotel to shame. The camp is large enough that you have privacy and are not overlooked by neighbours but small enough that you get to meet all the staff who are very professional but also exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The whole team, bar, restaurant, kitchen and guiding are very experienced and at the top of their game.
The care that Alfred and the Team have put into the design and concept is simply breath taking. The quality of fixtures, furnishings and catering is second to no other I have experienced. This is one location where the photos on the website really are fully representative of the real thing. Have game walk past as you shower outdoors or soak in the private pool is a memory that will never fade. As well as the experience of game drives and being within a few feet of lion cubs playing and meeting a white rhino close enough to actually touch him.
